GRAMMAR: Relative Clauses
Las “Relative Clauses” sirven para integrarse en oraciones de relativo explicativas y especificativas y se utilizan para formar frases que añaden información a un objeto o sujeto de una oración de apertura. Para ello se utilizan los pronombres relativos.
El ejemplo de los pronombres relativos se describen a continuación:
People
who live in África areas are often poor (Las personas que viven en África
suelen ser pobres).
A
continuación se muestran los pronombres relativos (Relative Clauses) en
inglés:
Who: se utiliza para el sujeto o
pronombres personales. Ejemplo: He is the guy who lives there. (Ese es el
hombre que vive ahí).
Which: utilizado para el sujeto o
pronombres de animales o cosas. Ejemplo: My cat, which is fat, is sleeping. (Mi
gato, que es gordo, está durmiendo).
Whose: tiene como significado el
término “cuyo”. Ejemplo:
Do you know the guy whose mother is sick?. (¿Conoces al
chico cuya madre está enferma).
Whom: utilizado en las personas. Ejemplo: He was hired by the professor whom I met
yesterday. (Él fue contratado por el profesor que yo
había conocido ayer).
That: utilizado para el sujeto,
personas, animales, cosas en los cosas donde se define alguna cosa. Ejemplo: I don’t like your friend that was with you
today. (No me gusta tu amigo que estuvo contigo
hoy).
